Good evening from La Paz,
Our day began bright and early with a 2:45 departure time from the school, from there we traveled to Atlanta where our flight was delayed due to air traffic. To occupy ourselves we began an intense game of spoons. When our plane finally arrived we had a smooth flight to La Paz. When we disembarked we had never felt anything as comforting as the warm sun after this long New York winter we've had. After that we took a 3 hour bus ride to the Hyatt in La Paz that will be our home for the next 2 nights. During our drive we played 60 mph Botany; this included Tonowah (our Green Edventures guide) pointing out several endemic plant species. Cardon cacti and Elephant Trees were some of the most abundant species we saw. We also got our first look at the Mexican landscape, most of our drive was surrounded by deserts, cacti, mountains and the occasional farm land. During our drive we even came across some cattle moseying across the road. Half way through our drive we stopped at a small restaurant for a late lunch. After our stop for a delicious meal, we were back on the road for the final stretch of the day. As we drove through the city of La Paz we compared the city shops of home to that of Mexican cities, we found many similarities including McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Domino's and Little Caesar's just to name a few. When we finally made to the hotel we had a short while to relax before dinner. After dinner, we discussed plans for tomorrow then headed to bed to get some shut eye after our long day.
